The Inn at Warm Springs has been a landmark in Bath County since it was built in the late 1800’s—not as an Inn but as the first County Court House and Jail. Located directly across the road from the historic Jefferson Pools this charming country inn offers a host of amenities including private quarters with en-suite bathrooms, satellite TV, free Wi Fi, air conditioning and ample free parking close to your room. We also have a limited number of pet friendly rooms.
The property is ideally located at the juncture of Route 220 and Scenic Byway Route 39. The inn sits atop a hill which overlooks the famous mineral springs known as the Jefferson Pools, and is the entry point to the village of Warm Springs.
The inn is surrounded by spacious lawns with majestic maples. Several of the buildings have porches and there are lawn chairs situated at the crest of the hill where you are welcome to sit and enjoy the commanding view of the Warm Springs Valley as well as the historic Jefferson Pools which were built in 1836. The pools are the oldest continuously operating wooden bath houses in the United States. Open year round on a seasonal schedule you may for a fee, schedule an appointment to soak in the healing waters which maintain a constant temperature of 98.6 year round.
The inn consists of a group of three brick buildings. The first is the original courthouse structure which now contains the registration area and lobby, the bar, a glassed-in breakfast room and the dining room. There is plenty of room to relax, enjoy a drink, a meal and good conversation.
There are a variety of accommodations from which to choose—but the most popular are those that have been transformed from jail cell to cozy, well-appointed sleeping rooms. The thick walls are your first introduction to spending a night in the old jail, but, the crisp fresh linens, the comfortable beds, private baths, WIFI, satellite TV and the well-stocked Keurig suggest a more tranquil experience.
THE JAIL HOUSE – We are pleased to offer two rooms which are pet friendly. We know how important it is to be able to travel with your family pet. These rooms offer all of the same amenities, furnishings and accommodation as our other rooms. We can welcome a maximum of one pet guest per room.
THE “PET FRIENDLY’ GUEST HOUSE – As you enter the property you will see a building to the left of the main house, this is known as the Spring House. Years ago the building was used for cool storage of such products as dairy or meat since homes built during the mid-19th century relied on their spring houses to store perishables. Today the Spring House features three lovely sleeping rooms, each facing west and overlooking the Jefferson Pools.
THE SPRING HOUSE – Round back of the main building and behind the Spring House are the Carriage House Rooms. The Carriage House was as you might guess, the original “garage” first for carriages and then automobiles. Now the space is used to house four sleeping rooms. These cozy rooms feature, private baths, fresh crisp linen, Wi-Fi, free satellite television, Keurig and the promise of a great nights sleep.
THE CARRIAGE HOUSE – Just outside the main rooms, adjacent to the lobby and accessed through the porch is our gift shop. We are pleased to offer local artisan arts and crafts, local food products, and unique gifts.
Every morning we offer a set menu for breakfast which is served between 7:30 and 9:30 a.m. Our breakfast features fresh fruits and vegetables from our garden, an egg dish made from local eggs, freshly made pastries and crusty homemade artisan bread. Because breakfast is prepared fresh each morning, we do ask for a reservation the night before. Meals are not included in your room stay.
We offer (20 rooms) in three locations. You can choose to “spend a night in jail”, in the springhouse or in the Carriage house. We also offer 5 pet friendly rooms; all other rooms are pet free.
